The news of his death was confirmed by his representative Mia Hansen. CNN reported that Hansen told Reddick he died suddenly Friday morning “of natural causes.”
Reddick, 60, began his career in the ’90s with credits on shows like “New York Undercover” and “The West Wing.”
He began earning roles in regional theater and at age 29, he applied to Yale University to study drama and eventually graduated.
In New York, he first auditioned for “The Wire” creator David Simon for his project “The Corner”, an HBO miniseries that came out two years before Simon’s “The Wire”.
Upon learning of the unfortunate news, her ‘The Wire’ co-star Wendell Pierce posted a touching tribute.
“As a gifted musician he was an actor,” wrote Pierce. “A symbol of class. A sudden unexpected intense painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable pain for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You have made your mark here.”

Kirk Acevedo, who starred with Reddick on Oz and Fringe, tweeted, “You will be greatly missed.” Acevedo also shared the last conversation she had with Reddick following the passing of Oz star Granville Adams.
DC Studios co-head James Gunn also took to Twitter to remember Reddick, calling the late actor “an incredibly good man” and “an incredibly talented actor.” Gunn wrote, “This is heartbreaking. My love goes out to his family, friends and colleagues.”
Reddick was also in the SAG-nominated ensemble cast of Regina King’s One Night in Miami and has worked on Netflix’s Resident Evil series, Comedy Central’s Corporate and FX’s American Horror Story.
