“I had the BRCA gene, it’s a breast cancer gene, so I’m having a double mastectomy in November,” Wade, 28, said during an interview. page six on Saturday, May 20, following her recent tour. “I’m going really hard [with my music] I have to rest till November and then till November and December.
According to the National Cancer Institute, BCRA1 and BCRA2 are genes that make proteins to help repair damaged DNA. It can develop a harmful form, which increases the risk of several types of cancer, including breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
The “Wilder Days” singer, for her part, is choosing not to focus on the health scare ahead of her second studio album release.
“I feel fine, I’m just angry that I won’t be able to work because I really love working. That’s my only qualm about it,” she continued. “My mom had it, and my little cousin is going to have it, but I’ll be fine.”
After breaking the news last year during a performance in Europe, Wade continued to work on his upcoming album. psychopath, which is set to drop in August. The Virginia native has previously opened up about the hard work that went into the project.
“I’m proud of what people say about Psychopath because I feel like it shows where I am at this moment. I have no choice but to be authentic. And I have to feel what I feel.” I do. “When I went in to make Reckless, I had no expectations. @sadlervaden and I sat down with the songs we wrote and gave each song its own sound and life of its own… without any pressure,” he wrote via Instagram about his debut album on Friday, May 19. “I had no idea Reckless was going to change everything for me. That record catapulted me into my career. All of you reading this have become fans and friends and are now literally coming to my shows all over the world.
Wade continued: “When I started working on Psychopath I was (still am) nervous about the follow up to such a ‘critically acclaimed’ album. But as I sit here and look at this art listen to what Sadler and I made (again) I’m proud of. This record shows where I’ve been since Reckless and where I am now. I hope you guys can feel my authenticity and you You can get something from the project.
