In a press conference, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad also rejected the contention that Rahul’s conviction case and his subsequent disqualification as an MP were linked to the latter raising the Adani issue.
Taking a cue from Rahul’s remark that he speaks in public with full understanding, Prasad reiterated the party line that the Congress leader intentionally insulted OBCs when he said at a Karnataka election rally in 2019, ” How come all thieves have Modi as their surname.” Which led to his punishment and disqualification.
“Rahul wants to be a martyr by biting his nails. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s statement confirms that the Congress has not pressed into service its famous battery of legal experts keeping in mind the Karnataka elections. Their failure to show their readiness What else can explain what it was for.” Everything has to be seen in Pawan Khera’s case?” Prasad said.
The BJP leader further said, “We are not here to brief (Gautam) Adani. But Rahul Gandhi has tried to mislead people to link his disqualification with Adani. A case related to defamatory remarks He has been disqualified because of his conviction in He made it in 2019.”
Prasad insisted that the Adani group used to win contracts even when the UPA was in power at the Center and was doing business in Congress-ruled states like Rajasthan. Rejecting Rahul’s allegation that his speech on Adani in Parliament had irked the government, Prasad asserted that the Congress leader’s address was “baseless and inconsistent”.
On the Congress leader’s statement that he chooses his words carefully, Prasad said, “It only proves that he made derogatory remarks with proper deliberation. This has been his habit. Low is facing seven other counts, including one.” Filed here by (former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar) Sushil Kumar Modi.”
Rejecting the allegation of political vendetta, the BJP leader said that “Many political leaders have been disqualified till now after being convicted by the court. Some of them belong to the BJP.”
