“A compact lawn will prevent water from soaking into the ground, which can lead to more serious problems and permanent damage, cause a variety of diseases, and even kill the turf – causing many Problems come in the spring.”
3. Let it melt
Peter pointed out that snow and ice, if left undetected, can actually be beneficial to the lawn in the long run, which is why it’s best to leave it alone.
He added: “While it may be tempting to clear the snow, it is best to leave it and wait for it to melt.
“The water created by this will soak into the grass, drive the root deeper into the soil and replenish it, making it healthier the next year.”
