Al Roker back in hospital after complications from blood clot

Al Roker’s “TODAY” family is sending him love after he is hospitalized.

their allies Hoda Kotb mentioned on air Last week’s hosting of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday morning was great, but “we all wish Al was with us.”

The famed “Today” meteorologist missed the event for the first time in 27 years because he was recovering from a blood clot in his leg that had traveled to his lungs.

Kotb said Thursday that Roker was back in the hospital “due to some complications” and “and he’s in very good care.”

“He is resting and his doctors are keeping a close eye on him,” she said. “Al and his family want everyone to know how grateful they are for everyone’s love, support and well wishes.”

Kotb said he and colleague Craig Melvin FaceTimed with Roker while they were at the parade and “he gave us a big thumbs up.”

Roker previously shared a post on his verified Instagram account to celebrate his release from the hospital in time to come home for Thanksgiving.

The caption on a pair of posted family photos read, “So #grateful to be able to be home for #Thanksgiving #dinner with #family.”

CNN has contacted a representative for Roker for comment.
